Music: My Comfort

I don't know what it is but I have found a tight emotional connection to music. I can sit through The Notebook or any other sad movie and nothing. The only time TV show made me sad was the series finale of Scrubs. Music, on the other hand, can make me strong, confident, sad, exhausted, aroused, anything. Different voices and genres do different things at different times.

For example, Rob Thomas can usually hut me the hardest, he can make me go from sad to contemplative and everything in between. If you don't listen to him, you should. He has an amazing voice. (He also sings with Santana on the song "Smooth".) Here are my three recommendations.

1.)Her Diamonds
2.)This is How a Heart Breaks
3.)Little Wonders

Eminem is another singer who can pull on my heartstrings, but in a different way. Eminem can make me strong, but he can humble me, too. He usually gives me drive and focus. His songs are raw and real. He puts his heart on the table and his head on the line to show his emotions and provoke yours. He has many songs that range from funny to deranged. My three favorites are as follows.

1.)Till I Collapse
2.)Lose Yourself
3.)The Way I Am

Finally, I would like to focus on Nickelback. They have a grit, from the voice of Chad Kroeger, but a compassionate feeling as well. They have songs about sex, songs about love, and songs about charity. They do community work alongside their singing and endorsements. They have a strong presence that is unmistakeable. The fame mostly comes form the fact that if you are listening ti a Nickelback song you don't like, then just go to the next one and I promise you'll love it. Again here is my list of their top three in my opinion.

1.)Animals
2.)How You Remind Me
3.)If Today Was You Last Day

Songs may only be a three minute snippet of emotion, but it has a lasting effect. When was the last time you couldn't get a movie stuck out of your head?

  1. I love your closing lines. Quite true!

I must also add to this my recommendation for dance. For all of the songs that I've ever connected with, the ones that leave the biggest impact on me are always the ones I've danced to. I would recommend this to anyone who would let me. Whether it's a complex piece of choreography or just rockin out in your basement, dance is one of the best ways to explore and express what a song means to you. Great topic there!

  2. Thank you for adding that. So true. "Rocking out" as us young-ins call it, is a great way to feel the music more. Thanks.
